One of our most experienced dentists, Oscar has been involved in placing and restoring dental implants since 2009. His formal training started at Eastman Dental Institute in Restorative Dentistry and continued with a two-year Diploma course in Implant Dentistry at The Royal College of Surgeons. After a further year of study and research he then attained his Master of Science Degree in Dental Implantology. He is currently a tutor, supervisor and an examiner for the Master of Science degree in dental implantology at King Juan Carlos University in Madrid and actively involved in training and mentoring of other dentists in dental implantology.
As the principal dentist Oscar is a firm believer in the culture of patient and staff satisfaction. He continually ensures that all of the dentists that work with him work to a standard that he is proud of. By putting all patients first and ensuring that everyone is listened to and understood, cared for and given a first-class service, Oscar makes sure that each and every patient leaves the practice having received a level of care he himself would have wanted to receive.
With a soft and gentle approach Oscar has gained the admiration of thousands of patients from all over the UK, Ireland, Sweden & USA. With over 20 years of experience in dentistry, Oscar has learnt to put all of his patients at ease.
It is important to Oscar that Smile Dental Practice is a place where his staff can be proud to work. He believes that his staff spend more time at work than they do at home and this means that they need to be happy. By looking after the staff and dentists Oscar knows that his patients are receiving the best care
A dental implant is a small titanium rod that is placed in the jawbone and covered over with gum. Being within the jawbone, the implant or ‘false tooth’ (or teeth) is secured in place. Titanium is well-tolerated by the body and over the first 2-3 months will start to fuse to the jawbone. Once you have had your implant placement you will be seen for a review 1 week later to see how you were after and check initial healing and then we leave you to heal and let you know when you’re ready to come back.
Having implants placed can seem very daunting and patients are normally worried about how painful they will be.
The most uncomfortable part of the procedure is numbing you up, once you are numbed up and we check you shouldn’t feel anything at all just pressure and vibrations. We also have ways of making this more comfortable as well so you shouldn’t worry.
Your teeth are the second part of your body that has the most nerves, this is while toothache is so bad. However, during implant placements we aren’t treating the teeth, we are just working with the bone which has no nerves and the gum which has very little. Most of our patients are pleasantly surprised and feel no pain and only a little discomfort during or after.
Bone graft is used to increase the width and height of the bone at the implant site. This is so the implant can have better stability and integrate better with your jaw.
After having your CBCT scan this will all be explained in further detail to you, in most cases where this is needed, it will be done at the time of implant placement.
The bone material we typically use and find works best are minerals and building blocks for the body are derived from animals (bovine and swine) or are synthetic.
Implant retained dentures are a great way to provide stability to dentures ensuring they stay secure in your mouth and never become loose or mobile.
Implants are placed (usually 2 -6) which hold and secure the denture in place via small clips.
These clips prevent the denture from moving unlike a normal denture which relies on either the suction to the palate or the amount of bone present on the lower arch, to hold it in place.
Advantages of Implant Supported Dentures:
The all on 4 is a procedure is where the surgeon places four implants in the bone. These work as the support to hold a full arch bridge. Two of the dental implants are placed straight into the bone and the others in a more angled position.
The All on four options has developed a lot over time and is a premier solution for people that need full mouth implants on the upper, lower or both jaws.
The all on four dental implants are a fixed option and only the dentist can unscrew the fixed
bridge. The bridge wouldn’t pop out or slip out of place. However, this does need to be checked and removed every 6 months for a full clean with one of our hygienists.
I (Dr Dadashian) will verify the number of dental implants to place into the mouth through a CBCT scan, he will decide if four, five or six dental implants will be needed and send you a full report.
